Why does the USA still have the death penalty at all? Every other western country abolished it years ago. Is it the same sort of xenophobic intransigence that has the USA still using imperial measures, while the rest of the world uses metric?
Seriously, look at the list: Iran, Nigeria, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, USA. What do they have in common? They are all theocracies. Iran, Sudan and Saudia Arabia have Islamic law. Nigeria is half Islamic law and half Christian fundamentalism. The USA is run by Christian fundamentalists. Why has the USA deserted its secular roots?
