Multi-talented Andrew Rosen makes his directorial debut with this agreeably silly, sometimes scorching satirical riff on abusive therapy. Going Under isn't flawless, but it's an assured piece of work that benefits from Rosen's tenure as one of the best editors in gay adult video, and (under the name Andrew Addams) as a dependably uninhibited sexual performer.

In the tradition of Jet Set's Wet Palms series and The Hole, the action hangs on a screwball story. When baby-faced, yaoui-eyed Derek Cruz wants to quit smoking, he turns to hypnotherapist Kent Larson, a control freak who plays pervo games with clients he hypnotizes at his office, a loft space fit for Mussolini. While Cruz is in a trance, Larson tells him, "When you wake from this sleep you will never smoke another cigarette again.... Whenever you feel like smoking, you will get a burning desire to suck cock."

Leaving Larson's office, Cruz spots Trevor Knight enjoying a cigarette; soon he's taking drags of Knight's sizable, user-friendly, non-carcinogenic penis. Later, when Knight resists being sucked off for the sixth time in about as many hours, Cruz feeds his oral jones at a sex club. Meanwhile, a subplot unfolds involving gym-bunny Travis Carlson, transformed by Larson from top to "insatiable pig bottom" (to the delight of workout buddy Bobby Williams). Eventually, after he and Cruz visit a "Victims of Hypnotherapy" website, Knight tries to expose Larson-- and ends up licking his shoes.

There's a digressive bit where Carlson watches a porn loop, but the four main sex scenes emerge from the material. Knight and Cruz are in good form, and Kent Larson has such strong physical presence that his habit of swallowing bits of dialogue doesn't matter. He excels at swallowing other things, and manages pitch-perfect readings of lines like "Pull down your pants... and bend over the pool table."
