But as queer as before?
Pittsburgh'-- It's a law of Hollywood running counter to Darwin's theory of evolution:
Jaws IV is certain to be a less well-adapted descendent of its original blockbuster ancestor. So
one can expect that the third season of "Queer as Folk," set to begin airing on Showtime March 3rd (10pm Eastern and Pacific times), will fall a few rungs down the entertainment ladder
from the 2000 premier-- especially as the series already suffered a decrease in orbit in its jump across the pond (the original version was British, made by UK's edgy Channel 4). This
season American cable-viewers can see 14 new one-hour episodes focusing "on the relationships, careers, loves, and challenges of a group of gay men and women living in Pittsburgh." The
series' handlers are tying their baby to the rack of brand-extension, maybe to the breaking point: March 3rd is also publication date for the first of what's to be a trilogy of novel tie-ins to the
TV series that will reveal the characters' trials and tribulations
before what was their televisual debut. The first of the literary prequels, by Joseph Brockton, is titled
Every Nine Seconds. "On the eve of Brian Kinney's 18th birthday, he and his best friend, Michael Novotny, celebrate a bond that could link them forever if their
future paths don't separate them for good,"
declares the Harlequinesque cover blurb. Caveats included, "Queer As Folk" is still likely be the brightest homosexual light on spring TV. Browse to sho.com/queer for more info.
