How to order
The title suggests a gay male send-up of Charlie's
Angels, but this is a quartet of conventional sex loops, each involving a collegiate-looking model and a partner who is somewhat older. Paul Barresi, the writer/director, does
more interesting work in projects like
Goodfellas/Badfellas, where the sex scenes are grounded in bent, quirky narratives.
Daddy's Angels doesn't attempt very much or take many chances. Nevertheless, it packs a stronger sexual
punch than much of Barresi's recent output. The cast may be his best since the Cole Tucker vehicle
Marine Father, Navy Son (2000), and Michael Zen, whose directorial work Barresi has publicly admired, pitched in as "Guest Director."
In the first segment, narcissistic muscle-stud Gauge discovers moussed-blond morsel Brett DiMineo ogling him at the gym, and initiates sex. In the second, Cameron Fox, who has gained poise and character since his
early days at Falcon Studios, fucks the bejesus out of Lance Gear. Then Anthony Holloway gets worked over by Dr. Carlo Cox, who is treating him for rectal constriction. Finally, DiMineo returns for an effective encore with
guardian Barry Barrett. The first and third episodes pass muster; the first and fourth are borderline superb. Solid, bearish Barry Barrett is a find.
Lance Gear, whose piss-play wallow in Titan Media's
Heat cinched his reputation as one of the least inhibited performers in porn, has a lean, hairy torso and a smooth, shaved head whose contours seem to come from
Roman portrait sculpture. His grin is a devilish platinum slash. Gear has played one-on-one scenes with some first-rate models, and has twice been showcased by Chi Chi LaRue
(In Gear, 2nd Gear), but he's rarely been seen to
better advantage than in his session with Cameron Fox in
Daddy's Angels. In a supplementary interview, Barresi asks Gear and Fox to rate each other on a scale of ten; each gives the other an eleven, and probably means it.
