How to order
When silver-haired Mike Flynn asks Jimmy McGuire to straighten up his garage, he tells his nephew not to "get into any of my personal stuff." McGuire disobeys, of course, and unearths an album of stills depicting
Uncle Mike and other cast members from The Other Side of
Aspen I. In that short but potent 1979 classic, Flynn played a non-sexual role as the San Francisco roommate Jeff Turk regales with accounts of his Aspen
adventures. McGuire continues the tradition by relating some of his own experiences on the sexual margins of the Colorado ski resort.
He tells of peeping at sex between Eric Leneau and Matthew Rush, observing a couple of feisty three-ways, and joining in a 15-man orgy. Each
Other Side of Aspen installment has featured a high-octane
group-sex episode; sadly, the orgy sequence in OSOA
V isn't up to its predecessors. The scene has energy, and should please thermal underwear fetishists, but except for the passage where McGuire joins the party and gets his
clothes peeled off, it's mostly unfocused, jumping from image to image before you know who or what you're looking at. Top-notch performers like Matt Majors get lost in the shuffle. Jackson Price, Chad Hunt, and Leo Bramm
fare better in a post-orgy threesome. A concluding puppy-love sequence between McGuire and startlingly young-looking Timmy Thomas, who has erection problems, is nearly a dud. Director John Rutherford had more
success with OSOA III and IV.
It's worth noting that Falcon has recently released the original
Other Side of Aspen on DVD, with supplemental commentary by director Bill Clayton. The performances of Al Parker, Casey Donovan, Dick Fisk,
Jeff Turk, and Chad Benson remain astonishing.
