Dawn has watched as countless gold-diggers across the country have sought both lucre and their 15 minutes in the spotlight by suing priests who supposedly winked at them sometime during the Eisenhower
administration. But news from the New York
Post simply astounds.
It seems that J. David Enright IV, described as a "gay Manhattan socialite,"
alleges he was repeatedly sexually abused by a seminarian counselor at upstate Camp Tekawitha on Lake Luzerne, in 1961 and 1962. The
"scion of Albany's renowned Van Rensselaer and de la Grange families" told the
Post that he'd "probably be married, living in Greenwich, [Connecticut]" if he hadn't been molested by that priest at camp.
So far, Dawn follows the story. But the next part is incredible: instead of thanking his lucky stars that Father Friendly introduced him to the wonders of homosex (and may have rescued him from a dreary,
comformist existence as a breeder trapped in the suburbs, fussing over crabgrass and snotty kids) J. David has decided to file a $5 million suit against the Catholic Church! Talk about ingratitude.
