Forms an axis for the club district geographically and style-wise with sister club, Dark Lady. Owners Rande Diantuono and Don Buck have invested lots of time and attention to both establishments. Alley Cat is a classic gay bar that has a daytime clientele and evening patrons, who feel as at home with the staff as each other. The crowd is ethnically diverse and intergenerational, with a more charged atmosphere on the Friday-to-Sunday shift, slightly more cozy weekdays. Overstuffed leather chairs add to the comfort levels. Locals call it a gay "Cheers," though Alley Cat morphs into a far more exuberantly packed house on busy nights than TV's Beacon Hill tavern ever dreamed. They pour generously at the Alley Cat, where invention is the byword behind the bar. Ask mix-master Michael for a "Sex with Michael" cocktail next time you stop by. It's a supercharged Brandy Alexander concoction worth serious investigation....
