Masque (34 N. Jefferson) is a world-class nightclub experience. Masque has become the one of the most exciting gay-nights-out in the Midwest, and people come from all over Ohio and nearby states. The 18-plus crowd
is young and enthusiastic, the staff attentive and personable, and the dancing young men atop the bars are fresh, friendly, uninhibited, and sexy. Level one has an elaborate stage, two bars, lounge seating, and a pool table.
Level two is nearly all dance-floor beneath a ceiling packed with lighting. The crowd goes wild as the Kryogenifex nitrogen cooling system blasts into the dancers and colored strobes light up the fog. DJ Scott Woxman plays a
variety of current house, R&B, pop, and retro mixes downstairs. DJ Rick Corder plays vocal Progressive and Gay House upstairs. This club has one of the finest sound systems I've ever heard-- chest pounding, yet crisp and clean.
It reminds me of the finest days of The Saint in NYC or Studio One in West Hollywood. There are Thursday and Saturday drag shows, and Fridays bring Overnight Male with novel cruising opportunities plus the Midwest's
hottest male dancers (also appearing each Wednesday). On Sundays there's Queeraoke, and come hungry for the Monday night pasta delights. Headline recording artists, drag comedians, and circuit DJs are regular extras. On
third Fridays, the first 400 guests get a free Masque t-shirt. Join Hope Sexton, Tuesdays, to see drag contestants compete for a chance to win a $10,000 first prize in December's Miss Masque USA Finals.
Celebrity, newly located at 507 Miamisburg-Carterville Road just outside Dayton in Washington Township, is one of the premier show and dance clubs in the Midwest, with Vegas-style shows, comedy, drag, and
amateur participation onstage. They also have high-energy weekend dance-parties for those 18-plus. On Wednesdays there are drag contests, and on Thursdays, an open-stage cabaret talent show for cash prizes. Friday's male
model search features a hot underwear contest. Q, an in-house store, has magazines and pride items.
Other Dayton bars include: Cell Block (135 E. 2nd), DJ's Saloon (237 N. Main), Right Corner (105 E. Third), and Stage Door (44 N. Jefferson).
