Wisconsin's vibrant capital city, and its picturesque surrounding towns, offers visitors the best of all worlds: natural beauty, recreational opportunities, cultural offerings, distinctive restaurants and shops, and a spirit of fun.

The fall, check out the stunning colors of Madison's changing foliage while biking, hiking, windsurfing, or walking. Winter, in its frozen splendor offers visitors opportunities such as cross-country skiing, ice-skating, and downhill skiing.

Highlighted by Wisconsin's majestic state capital, Capital Square is an active gathering place for many. Built on a narrow isthmus between lakes Monona and Mendota, Madison basks in spectacular natural beauty. These beautiful lakes and over 200 parks are open year round. Madison is home of the University of Wisconsin and the college boys are out and about.

Bars and restaurants

Rainbow Room (121 W. Main) is the club in Madison. Their highlight of the week is their Thursday stripper's night. Some Thursdays include porn stars as well as local and out-of-town performers, who join the local drag-queen cast. On Mondays, it's the "Weakest Link Night," Tuesdays bring sing-a-long karaoke, Thursdays are female impersonator shows, Fridays often bring live bands, and every other Saturday they host a huge drag show.

Other bars include Club Five (5 Applegate Court), Shamrock (117 W. Main) and Ray's/Men's Room (3052 E Washington) offers two levels of drinking.

Fyfe's Corner Bistro (1344 E. Washington) is gay-friendly and offers an upscale lunch and dinner. They serve certified Angus beef steaks, fresh seafood, creative California pastas, and a large assortment of wine. Fyfe's offers lunch Monday through Friday and dinner seven nights a week.

Publications covering Wisconsin include Quest , based in Green Bay, and featuring ads from most of the bars, published every three weeks, and In Step , based in Milwaukee, loaded with news and ads.
