How to order
Since popular culture's millennial fixation on angels is wearing thin, the idea of a porn video inspired by the Wim Wenders angels-over-Germany
film Wings of Desire sounds as thrilling as a week in
Council Bluffs. But Fallen Angel is one of the best leather and kink videos ever made, and perhaps the best production of any description to come out of Titan Media. It subverts its model with intelligence and nerve. It has
more artistic merit-- and far more integrity-- than the recent Meg Ryan weeper
City of Angels, which was spun from the same source.
The 1988 Wenders classic was set in a silvery black-and-white Berlin; Fallen Angel unfolds amid sleek, mysterious Chicago cityscapes drenched in twilight color. Bruce Cam's videography is
eloquently cinematic. In Wings of Desire, angels hovered over the inhabitants of the still-divided city to provide spiritual healing (Pauline Kael called it "hug therapy"); in
Fallen Angel, they facilitate and bless transgression. Like
his counterpart in Wings of Desire, black-winged Steve Cannon longs to participate in human experience. When he submits to leatherman Kyle Brandon, he achieves that goal. Together they pluck Jim Buck off the street and
carry him off to a basement dungeon for sexual nuclear fission.
Each of the five erotic episodes-- shot at two Chicago sex clubs-- is scorching, outrageous, and unrelentingly alive. Considerable use is made of whips, paddles, racks, restraints, and fetish gear. All
the performers seem demonically turned on. Miss this one at your peril. A sequel,
Fallen Angel 2, will be out momentarily.
