In six episodes spanning two discs, director/co-producer Chris Ward unleashes his fanciest-- and, in some respects, best-- offering since Arabesque (2005). Bedroom Eyes shies away from the unfettered edginess that used to be Ward's signature effect, but it's frequently superb. The hint of restraint heightens moments of ecstatic sexual gluttony-- Anthony Martinez drilling into Matt Cole's butthole with his tongue; Martin Mazza and Tamas Eszterhazy gnawing at each other's faces; Rafael Alencar piston-fucking Alex Corsi's round, furry ass; and quite a few more spread over 199 minutes.

ach segment takes its title from a vintage Hollywood film, beginning with An American in Paris, in which Yank Kyle Lewis gets engulfed in the sumptuous French body of François Sagat. In Double Indemnity, the two-tiered section that follows, Matt Cole barely recovers from a tumultuous flip-flop with Anthony Martinez before Dirk Jager shows up to fuck him into near insensibility. The first disc ends with a powerhouse three-way; the second delivers a pair of well-crafted one-on-one scenes before launching into the pièce de resistance, a fiery five-man sequence accurately tagged The Wild Bunch.

This 150-proof passage starts with Dean Monroe, Derrick Hanson, Brendan Austen, and Martin Mazza, shirtless and sunstruck, lounging at a table on an open deck; it builds toward a fierce round of fucking, with muscular, tattooed interloper Tamas Eszterhazy flung across the table and impaled fore and aft. Apart from a few miscalculated moments where sexual interplay sinks into shadow, this scene, like the rest of Bedroom Eyes, owes much of its power to Ben Leon's adroit videography. Some models-- Kyle Lewis, Matt Cole, and Tag Adams, to name three-- acquire a movie-star glamour they've never previously seemed to possess. It isn't just that they're photographed to best advantage. It's that under Ward's direction, the entire 14-man cast effervesces with lust, and the camera adores their vitality.
