Regular readers know of Dawn's appreciation of
The Economist, the British business rag that delivers conservative financial news without the pro-life/anti-sex clutter of so much American media. A recent issue analyzed
the "Vanity Index" in an effort to determine which of the planet's people are the vainest.
Turns out, Venezuelans are likeliest to spend the most time in front of the mirror; 67 percent of Venezuelan women and 47 percent of Venezuelan men report thinking about how they look "all of the
time." Venezuelans also consume the most deodorant use per capita (yuch!), and spend a whopping 20 percent of household income on personal care products.
Next on the VI were Mexicans, Russians, Turks, and South Africans. The United States ranked ninth, slightly above the world average, while Canadians placed eleventh, slightly below the global mean.
