Robert Prion, the New Jersey-based maverick porn director who recently released his 50th all-male production, deserves points for stamina and tenacity. But his videos are an acquired taste. This, his most recent, integrates seven newcomers with familiar Prion models. The strengths and weaknesses of Doin' the Nasty will be familiar to anyone who has seen previous examples of Prion's work. On the plus side, the cast is an accessible-looking mix of ages and physiques, and their sexual interactions have an unrehearsed, in-the-moment quality. Most of the models are versatile; reciprocal fucking is one of Prion's trademarks. On the minus side, the visuals are mediocre (with hardly any upgrade from VHS to DVD), and the set-ups make the models seem more mentally challenged than they probably are. In a typical exchange, Blake Landon says, "I don't know about you, Eddie, but walking next to that water makes me horny as hell," and Eddie Simmons replies, "Come on, let's do something about it."

Not all of the models introduced here are really cut out to have sex on camera. Top-billed Tommy DeLuca, who's featured on the box cover, is a pleasant, skinny young man with a fat dick and meager camera presence. The standout debut performance comes from smooth, dark-haired Landon, who manages to smile at the same time he's licking the tip of Simmons's penis. The third-episode orgy doesn't live up to its promise, but the fifth and final loop is a gnarly, goatish threesome in which Blain Baxter, Dillon Daily, and Slater Reed carry on as if they're doing what they'd most enjoy doing whether or not a camera was involved.
