Maxwell Technologies has announced that its PureBright technology is undergoing third-party tests to determine whether it can kill viruses that contaminate
blood products and biopharmaceuticals. The technology, which uses a very intense pulse of white light, could be used on plasma products, but not whole blood.
Maxwell reported that PureBright has inactivated every virus it has been tested against, without the support of chemicals or other treatments.
