Porn shoots blow hot & cold, says escort-turned-porn-star & author Aaron Lawrence
By
Ed Karvoski, Jr.
Already well known to countless web surfers and fans of "amateur" videos, New Jersey-based Aaron Lawrence was recently pronounced one of the five most
promising porno newcomers by Unzipped magazine. And his audience is sure to broaden with the recent concurrent releases of his first high-profile adult
video, The Dream Team directed by Jerry Douglas, and his self-published book of short stories titled
Suburban Hustler: Stories of a Hi-Tech
Callboy.
Which came first for you, escorting or doing porn?
Escorting. Porn is just my hobby-- a profitable hobby. Escorting is my career.
Tell me about the "amateur" videos you've done.
I produced my own line of videos and these are amateur-- they're very amateur tapes, I should say. They're done with a camcorder. A bunch of cute guys just go at
it and we film it; there's no editing of the footage. I do the lighting the best I can; there's no professional lighting. Sometimes I hand the camera to my boyfriend and I
go jump on top of the pile.
What gave you the idea to produce your own videos?
I thought I'd never be able to do professional porn. I used to be heavier and even if I lost some of the weight, I still didn't have the body for professional porn, so
I started doing amateur. People are far more forgiving of not being perfect in amateur porn.
And there are some people who actually prefer amateur videos, right? There's definitely a market.
Sure. And to prove that, I have a stack of fan mail at home from people that collect amateur porn. The one thing about amateur is that there's no formula. It's
not predictable. You know that a 20-minute scene took 20 minutes to film, not six hours and then was spliced up. You're seeing essentially all of the footage. And it's
hot! You see that the actors are really getting into it. You can't fake it. If they're not into it, it shows. And if they're into it, then that shows.
I generally define amateur as anything that's done with very simple equi pment with little or no editing. Then there's low-budget stuff. I did one low-budget
movie. It's generally a lot easier to film than a big one.
Are we talking about Pushover, directed by Robert Prion?
We are. What can you say about a scene that can be filmed in three hours and then you're out of there?
Was it a good experience?
It was an interesting experience. On the first day, I had a real hard time getting hard on the set because I was just petrified and nervous. I was in two scenes and I
did much better by the second. It was a learning experience. Had I gotten onto the set of
The Dream Team and had never been in front of the camera before in my life,
then that might have been too much for me.
What was your first day on the set of
The Dream Team like?
I arrived at the sound studio and it was cold-- very cold-- in there. Jerry [Douglas] apologized and said, "Normally, I like to film lots of dialogue scenes in
the morning so you all warm up to each other. But today simply starts with you standing nude in the shower with a hard-on and Rick Chase comes in and sucks you off."
Rick and I started kissing passionately under the water streaming across our faces till we did the transition down to the oral sex, then Jerry said, "Cut." At that
point, Rick fell back and was choking from the volumes of water. Try making out with someone with a full stream of water across your face!
Then when we began the oral sex and the water temperature suddenly dropped 20 degrees. We jumped out and they got it fixed. But then the water temperature
went up.
The water heater remained unreliable all day long, going up and down. Once, the shower started going wrong like crazy and I just started laughing. That was
the point that I just relaxed and realized that all you can do on a porno set is just wing it. So I was just standing there, rock hard, playing with myself in front of the
entire crew while they were all scrambling and trying to get the water fixed.
Did you get to do anything sexually in
The Dream Team that you hadn't done before in real life?
I've been escorting for two-and-a-half years. There is nothing that I haven't done!
What has been the funniest experience while escorting?
A lot of times I have strange and enlightening experiences. I had a client that had me spoon-feed him rice pudding with my dick. It felt cold on my dick, so I
told him, "Next time, bring some lasagna along."
