Judging by its name, the Institute for Organizational and Personal Transformation (I-OPT) could be a Maoist cell, an inside-the-Beltway front
group for Peru's Shining Path terroristas, hell-bent on fomenting cultural revolution at Western imperialism's ground zero. The truth, however, is more mundane. On June
10-12 in Washington, and then again on June 24-26 in Hagerstown, Maryland, I-OPT is throwing workshops for
homosexualistas entitled "Becoming A More
Effective Neutral." (Wait, isn't that a slogan from the
Little Red Book?)
Organizer Prudence Bowman Kestner explains helpfully that the "workshop provides 25 hours of training for improving conflict management,
communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills. Participants will learn ways and means of assuming leadership in resolving HIV/AIDS, gay, lesbian, and transgender
disputes or complaints."
Readers are probably wondering what topics will be covered in these here workshops. The answer: "Communication and
Conflict Management, Diversity and Stereotyping, Managing Change and Stress, Problem Solving, Target Words, Team Building, Thinking Styles,
and Time Management." For more info, contact Larry Ray at 202-483-0241.
