Name & Shame
Site targets grubby sex bigots

The gay movement's success-- like the North's victory over the slaveholding South in the American Civil War-- has produced huge and burning resentments. America today doesn't have much in the way of lynchings or a Ku Klux Klan-- these long-lived bastard-children of that terrible war. But that's just because post-1960s resentment has aerosolized, like hairspray, with the resulting flammable fog set alight by the right-wing.

So if GLBT is now officially prescribed 'good' sexual identity-- just slightly off-white compared to heterosexuality-- there's palpable hunger for verifiably 'nigger' sexual categories.

The bloody pop-racism of the post-Reconstruction South has its parallel in the sex-offender registries of post- "Queer Eye" America.

Which is why it's nice to see a website turn the tables on the people these registries most benefit: the carpetbagging caste of therapists and law-enforcers who make $$$ and careers by demonizing what is-- a huge proportion of the time-- pretty innocent and often queer goings-on.

Go to the online National Registry of Political and Professional Predators Against Children, and you'll see the mug of David Gorcyca, Oakland County, Michigan, DA, whose prosecution of teenage boys for avowedly consensual sex with a 14-year-old girl led to the suicide in 2004 of one of the youths when he found out he'd be on the sex-offender registry for at least the next 23 years.

And then there's Kansan attorney general Phill Kline, who calls sexually-active teenagers "child rapists," and fought to keep Matthew Limon in prison for 25 years for a blow-job he gave another teenage boy-- even though the law under which Limon was convicted targeted only gay sex.

Or there's Costa M. Pleicones, a South Carolina Supreme Court justice, who said children as young as nine could be registered as sex-offenders, and so, for the rest of their lives, as the website notes, be "subject to community notification, monitoring, and public humiliation, prevented from living with their families, and/or eliminated from most careers or decent housing." Everything short of being forced to ride in the back of the bus.

"I started the site because I'm disgusted with all the politicians and therapists building their careers by destroying kids' lives," says webmaster Mike Stinson, "then saying they're doing it to 'protect the children.'"

For the complete rogues' gallery, browse to http://freewebs.com/nationalregistry, and hope that America's sexual outcasts will someday find their Rosa Parks.
