How to order
In Studio 2000's recent
Meltdown, Rafael Carreras
brought Spanish heat to a wintry
Czech ski resort. In
Barcelona Bound, he's a
tourist in his own country. Visiting
Barcelona for the
first time, Carreras and boyfriend
Lucas Foz check into a hotel
("Just think, we'll be able to
have sex in a bed!"), then
wander around town snapping
photographs and conjuring up
sexual
fantasies about people they
encounter-- a priest and a
construction worker, a wine
merchant and a delivery man, a
matador, a sailor and a street mime.
Superbly photogenic from head
to foot, the trim, fiery Carreras fuels
the two best sex scenes-- a
three-way in a wine cellar, and a
passionately romantic session with
Foz. This could
be director John Travis's best work in
years, but he's potently assisted by
his nine-man Spanish cast.
Whenever the sex begins to seem
static and posed, there's suddenly a
primal moment
like the one where Carreras, as he
piston-fucks Dino-- who in turn is
happily fellating Marquez-- begins to
suck his thumb, then reaches over
Dino's body to insert his fingers in
Marquez's mouth.
