How to order
When volatile actor Isaiah Washington called costar T.R. Knight a "little faggot" during a fracas on the set of the ABC-TV series Grey's Anatomy late in 2006, the ensuing media hype sealed the incident's destiny as smut fodder. In this well-crafted, competently acted porno-fictionalization, tensions erupt on the set of something called Golden Hills, whose cranky, ginger-stubbled star Andrew Justice hurls the f-epithet at a colleague. Andrew Rosen's script won't sow any seeds of self-doubt among the speech police, but it does fall short of full-bore GLAADthink. The real issue here isn't language, it's hypocrisy. Apart from the predictably closeted homophobe, everybody in The F Word is a little devious, including the unabashed fags.
The latter include Jesse Santana as a reporter for a glitzy tabloid; Cole Ryan as a paparazzo; Guy Parker as Santana's on-set informant; Matt Majors as a producer; Christian Owen as Majors's boytoy/assistant; and Tyler Saint as Justice's agent. ("My agent's a faggot," says Justice in his own defense, "and I have no problem with that.") Braxton Bond, the target of Justice's outburst, is also, of course, gay; his encounter with fellow TV actor Jason White provides a luscious first sex scene. The F Word's sexual component peaks with the third of four episodes, a three-way for Owen, Saint, and Majors; the sequence itself hits its peak with a rigorous fuck-train. The final scene, in which dark-haired, finely wrought Cole Ryan draws Andrew Justice out of the closet, owes much of its heat to Justice's performance. Plunging headlong into sex, he's like a thirsty castaway who's just found water.
