Austin-- If you and your beau-- or your pooch-- are in Austin over July 4th, "come on
out for the fun" at the Austin Tavern Guild's annual Fourth-of-July Picnic, noon to 6, at Waterloo Park (12th or 15th and Red River
Street). Besides competitive volleyball, music galore, toothsome company, and beer, beer, beer, there's a Canine Contest, brought to you by the United Court of Austin and Margie's Grooming. "Dogs may be dressed up," say
organizers, "or presented for individual prizes and awards such as Gayest Dog, Biggest, Smallest, Looks Most Like Owner, etc." Besides raising color in a few cheeks, the picnic raises money for local pink charities. Last year the take
was some $2,447.28, but the picnic is free and open to the public. For more info, 'phone 512-707-2384, e-mail ozparade@aol.com, or browse to www.austintavernguild.com.
