Any astute editor would declare a New
Orleans bash dubbed "Southern Decadence" an unacceptable redundancy. When is New Orleans not Southern? When not lusciously decadent? But then again, a thoughtful
editor might mull, what is decadence but an excess, an over-larding, a sort of redundancy-in-itself? Shut up already. Here's the scoop. "Southern Decadence," the Labor Day-weekend party, is said to draw some 50,000
homosexuals to "the city that care forgot." This year the festivities run September 1, 2, and 3. But, says an informative though unattributed press release, "some [homosexuals] stay longer, and many people come to New Orleans
to celebrate and make a statement as to who they are!" Continues S. Decadence's anonymous bard, "Consider a trip to New Orleans! It's well worth it because the city offers so much more."
