How to order
The direction is by Csaba Borbčly; the subtitles are by Salvador Dali. The cast portrays Hungarian guppies who are unlikely ever to have heard of a frathouse, much less partied in one. Four sex scenes unfold in the upscale home of Tony Magera, a clean-cut, sandy-haired lad with
a radiantly vacuous Pat Boone smile. On his birthday, he invites a dozen friends to his well-appointed digs, where everything is beige or white or terra cotta. Congregating in the garden, his guests help him celebrate with cake, salami canapés, and sparkling wine. Luckily, no one
throws up. "The spirit is high here," someone observes. After Magera blows out candles on a scary pink cake, he asks, "What's else?"-- as if angling for presents. Four of the guests respond by leading him into the house for sex.
Meanwhile, back at the party, where somebody's knocked over the canapés, the rest of the guests are looking for something to do. "Last time, when I were in a huge building, I saw a large fireplace," says Soto Donovan slyly. "I saw a similar here.... It's worth to see!" Four
young men hurry to scope out the fireplace, whose warmth inspires them to take off their clothes and investigate one another's apertures. The three remaining partygoers, who have been discussing cars, soon begin to wonder where everyone else has disappeared to. A few seconds
after they start to search the premises, however, they succumb to horniness on a steep, tasteful staircase.
Like certain other Europeans cranking out gay porn in Budapest and Prague for the American market, Csaba Borbčly seems to think Americans are dolts who can't process anything, even a porn star's name, unless it's swathed in pseudo-American wrappings. (Given
current American leadership, this assumption is, perhaps, forgivable.) He also thinks he can meet American porn fans' cretinous expectations without much effort. But portions of
Frathouse Bash do show signs of craft and commitment. The first half of the opening orgy, where oral
action escalates as the models slip out of their clothes, achieves a degree of heat that's rare in Borbčly's output. And the final sex scene, where Magera goes to bed with latecomer Eddie Schulz after lots of heartfelt tongue-kissing, has a strong romantic buzz.
