Anti-sex crusaders calling for torture of boy lovers might want to study the tactics employed by their comrades in the old South African army. That country's "Truth and Reconciliation Commission"
has discovered among apartheid's manifold horrors the army's practice of using aversion "therapy" for recruits who showed an "unnatural" attraction to black women or "homosexual tendencies." Pictures of naked men or
black women would be shown to the suspected perverts and a strong electric shock administered. After the screams died down, "appropriate" photos were flashed while a soothing voice described their alabaster, feminine charms
in "glowing terms." (The article Dawn read made no mention of army recruits who were attracted to black
men; Dawn fears a higher-than-aversion voltage may have awaited them.)
