You have whips and chains to gain
San Francisco-- The Folsom Street Fair is one of San
Francisco's great extravaganzas of lust, leather, and raunch, now in
its 21st year and claiming "over 400,000 attendees
annually." But the fair needs a pretty
picture to present to the world-- specifically, an artfully designed
poster for 2005 (this year's fair is Sunday, July 25th). For your 15
minutes of fame-- and a little bit of fortune (ranging $400 for first
place, to $100 for a
"People's Choice" award, decided by attendees this year)--
come up with a poster that sums up the joys of things kinky, but in a
way that won't frighten the horses when plastered all over Bay Area
lamp posts. That means no
"explicit sex acts and/or clear images of male or female
genitalia or full nudity," and please, no images "degrading
or demeaning the human condition, depicting illegal activities, or
artwork with specific religious or political
references." And a final suggestion-- keep the work
"representative of Folsom Street Fair's theme:
fun, frolic, and fetish." For more details and rules, browse to
www.folsomstreetfair.org/art. And, without demeaning the URL in any
way, lop "art" off its end to get the goods on this year's event.
