Speaking at a Lehigh University seminar, author John Updike, queried about incest, remarked, "All
love comes from the family. Yet it is an effort to break out of the familiar, to become intimate with another,
to reconstruct the cuddling, the tickling, and the comfort. It's part of being human. Eros is everywhere. It is
what binds."
Dawn has long felt that the best parents, teachers, and mentors for youth are those adults who love
them: agape, philia, and eros the whole schmear. Seems maybe Mr. Updike agrees.
