How to order
Tired of cleaning toilets at a scruffy diner, Owen Hawk enrolls at some generic military college where the uniforms look funny and nobody (especially the screenwriter) knows the
difference between ROTC and service-oriented degree programs. Nevertheless, as he chats with Lockyer Academy commander Tom Slade soon after arriving on campus, Hawk appears ready
for anything-- maybe because his white-sidewall haircut makes the top of his head resemble a lid created to remove his brain, which seems gone. Informing Hawk that Lockyer's curriculum
offers "hands-on experience," Slade leads senior cadet Marcos Pirelli in a loud recitation of the Lockyer credo. Then they have sex on the spot, in full view of Hawk.
The scene, enhanced by Pirelli's fashion-model looks, builds to an unmilitarily reciprocal round of fucking. But it goes on too long, and Hawk's non-participation, awkwardly staged--
he's rebuffed, then finally drawn in at the end-- becomes tiresome. Two of the other three sex scenes pertain to Hawk's crush on Tim Rusty, a red-haired fellow cadet. They finally connect,
more or less, in the last and most successful episode, a classroom orgy involving four cadets and beefy African-American instructor Duke Hunter. Director Doug Jeffries seems to have tossed
this one off without much thought. Chain of
Command offers few of his trademark bad-boy embellishments-- other than odd, fleeting moments of dog-tag munching.
