By night, Jay Ross writhes his way through lascivious dreams as he sleeps alone on deluxe rumpled sheets. By day, he holds down a rabbity bookkeeping job at a white-walled office furnished in tasteful beige. Most of his fellow employees are well-turned-out guppies who think he's a dork. The boss, Johnny Thrust, who describes Ross as "piteous," shows traces of sexual interest nevertheless­ or so Thrust's jealous boyfriend, Troy Banner, believes. The story, parceled out in half-coherent lumps between sex scenes, concerns a prank played by Banner and an accomplice (Kaya Moore), who hire a gypsy sorceress (Donatella) to cast a spell on Ross and transform him into a hot little club whore. It's as if they want to make him more alluring so that Thrust will lose interest­ or some such rot.

I> Spell opens well, however, with Ross immersed in a wet dream set in a jail cell, and moves on to a blazing real-life erotic tussle between Thrust and Banner, whose fierce rapport makes their partnership convincing. The third sex scene, the only dud, is a jumbled fantasia that peaks when Patrick Allen, dressed in a weird leather gladiator skirt, gets intimate with a banana. Viewers who make it through this passage are rewarded with an uninhibited romp on the dance floor of a club where Sam Dixon, Matt Sizemore, and Ross launch into a fiery three-way while Ross's office mates and various bar patrons watch. You may wish the action could expand to include spectators like Enrico Vega, whose cum shot in the opening episode deserves an encore, but what does occur is sufficently intense. Cute, pocket-sized Jay Ross, endearingly spacy in his early scenes, looks startlingly focused as he fills his mouth with cock.
