According to police, a 51-year-old New Jersey resident likes talking dirty to children. In April, he acknowledged making obscene phone calls to 12 girls, ranging in age from 8 to 14, and pleaded guilty to multiple counts of
child endangerment (which sounds so much worse than "talking dirty on the phone").
Dawn understands that letting children know about sex is one of the very worst crimes on earth, so the accused could expect a long prison term just for the sexy talk. But what caught Dawn's attention in this case was
one phonecall to a 10-year-old girl known in court documents as "S.M." During the call, in which Maxwell posed as her mother's gynecologist, he persuaded S.M. to insert her finger into her vagina. For this, he was charged
with "aggravated sexual assault" and will be branded a "sexually dangerous person" for the rest of his life.
The accused was trying, however clumsily, to have S.M. find her vagina pleasurable, but police and prosecutors quickly taught her differently, that touching her naughty parts meant a felony of the gravest sort had
been committed, a lesson she will have for life.
