This softcore mock documentary weaves in and out of a TV interview with the fictional British "out gay boy band" Exposed. Seated at "their manager's luxury apartment in Soho," the trio chats with "Wow TV" presenter Derek Harker. Their new song "Perfect Guy" has just hit the top of the charts, giving the boys-- Paul, Anton and Tony-- their fourth consecutive No. 1 single, and the group is in a celebratory mood. The song, the only Exposed song we are exposed to, is a piece of blandly catchy techno-pop with lyrics like "Free is everything that makes me me."

Nevertheless, the boys are fairly engaging as they discuss the history of the band, ponder their careers, and comment on their sexual escapades, like Paul's George Michael-style arrest in an L.A. loo. Slender, dark-haired Paul Bell, whose heart-shaped face surrounds Fragonard lips, has been, we're told, the group's lead singer since the abrupt departure of the fourth original band member-- Czech porn star Johan Paulik. Anton Rizan, a honey-haired Eastern European with a happy concupiscent smile, and bleached-blond pomo-homo Tony George provide backup.

This is the best of British director Mike Esser's softcore videos. The entire cast can act, the uncredited script (it seems partly improvised) is full of sly humor, and the sex goes about as far as it can without becoming fully explicit. Portions of the seven sex scenes have an undeniable erotic charge. Your response to the sexual passages depends upon how well you manage not to be distracted by the agility with which Esser and his editors, mindful of the U.K. censors, avoid showing us everything we'd like to see.
