How to order
Director Lucas Kazan has been turning out homofications of Italian opera for years; now he's moved on to Italian lit.
Decameron: Two Naughty Tales recasts a couple of Boccaccio's
best-known stories in gay erotic terms. There's the one about Masetto, the peasant who pretends to be mute in order to spark discreet encounters with a conventful of nuns, and the one
about Spinelloccio and Zeppa, friends who resolve an infidelity crisis by entering into "common joy" with each other's wives.
Here the nuns are transformed into horny, ostensibly straight male laborers; the abbess becomes their landowner boss (Alberto Ventura). Masetto is embodied by sturdy, muscular
Eric Flower, flaunting his tight round butt. In the second story, intercut with the first, Leon and Jean Franko play Spinelloccio and Zeppa; their respective spouses, now boyfriends, are
Ricky Martinez and Wilfried Knight. The exhibitionistic, impudent cast is grittily attractive.
This mini-Decameron retains few traces of the wit and slyness of the original 14th century tales. Boccaccio fans will regret the loss of the famous bit where Zeppa fucks
Spinelloccio's wife atop a trunk while Spinelloccio hides inside it. But the Italian locations are luscious and the sex-play has a sensual, summery buzz.
Decameron: Two Naughty Tales is just 74 minutes
long; the four main sex scenes benefit from compression. Kazan's direction stresses passionate foreplay. An erotic high point comes when Eric Flower, naked, tongue-kisses shirtless
Alberto Ventura in an open farmyard.
