How to order
The largest Gay Pride observance in Latin America takes place each June in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where in less than a decade the annual parade has swelled from a
few thousand participants to 800,000-- or, according to some estimates, about a million-- merrymaking queers. Wandering with some of his models through the
2002 Sao Paulo Pride festivities, director Max Julien documented the event with a hand-held camera. The result, deftly edited, appears here as transitional footage
in warm, saturated color. The well-directed sex scenes include real-time pickups that occur in the course of the Pride march, and masturbatory fantasies inspired
by the passing stream of male flesh.
There are two threesomes, two solos (one of which is intercut with an imagined encounter between a pair of delectable men the soloist has caught
on videotape), and three duos. Sex Parade peaks in the second episode, where Tiago Nunes, squatting on the sidewalk as marchers pour down the Avenida
Paulista, connects with reveler Gabriel Faria and cop Bernardo Lima, who stop on either side of him to piss; the three wind up in a small enclosed yard where they strip
and have ecstatic sex after barricading the gate. But every scene has felicitous vignettes. Julien's 13 models are handsome, full of life, and relentlessly turned
on. When Julio Vidal sheds his clothes on a spiral stairway and hurls himself onto a hunky partner below, the exuberance goes joyfully over the top.
