This four-part beige-hanky spoof is built around a technological breakthrough called the RimPerfect Rim Chair ("The Chair When You Care for Back There"). It looks like a clear plastic toilet seat on four legs, but it works. Beneficiaries of this miracle of human ingenuity come mostly in pairs, but three men participate in the closing loop. The chair is perhaps mercifully put to limited use, though rimming devotees may be miffed to learn that much of the sex is just pro forma sucking and fucking. The models range from adequate to likable, though John Simms's camera zeroes in on pimples, moles, and acne scars with brutal clarity. The director, an entity who calls himself "Hands Solo," is best known for School of Hard Cocks (1999). He's capable of humor that sometimes sinks beneath a weight of slobbo production values. The RimPerfect Rim Chair is fictional, but A Rim with a View also pushes actual products: the amenities at L.A.'s San Vicente Inn, jockstraps by Jocko of West Hollywood, and, believe it or not, Sphincterine Ass-tringent towelettes, which "make your ass minty fresh!"
