Savvy but poor students everywhere, listen up. The "Family Pride Coalition," which could be an outfit either Christian-fundy or translesbigay-- in
this case the latter-- offers scholarships. They are sponsored together with Children Of Lesbians And Gays Everywhere (COLAGE). You needn't be homosexual to avail yourself
of the money-- whatever they say about gay genes, they don't pass 100 percent of the time from parent to child. But scholarshipees do need to paint a picture of themselves
as possessing "ability in and commitment to affecting change in the LGBT community." In addition, they need to assert that one of their parents is queer-- and frankly, how
many parents are 100 percent straight? Practically no one, therefore, is seriously disqualified from competing for a Lee Dubin Scholarship, which makes Lee Dubin a
perhaps unintentional model of ecumenical generosity. Well, not so generous: scholarship
winners get one US kilodollar a year. For an application form, browse over
to www.colage.org, or call 415-861-5437.
