How to order
Sometimes a story, no matter how odd, lame, or stupid, grounds sex scenes in context and provides models with personae that feed a viewer's fantasies. In
Sand Gods, director Andre Adair gets a writing credit, but there's no dialogue and no story--just four basic sex sequences, evidence that story elements were pared away (by Fay Dubois, who gets on-screen editorial
credit, or Adair himself) in a prerelease editing session, and cryptic snatches of transitional montage apparently assembled from discarded footage. "A young man's research into ancient
mythology awakens the sexual spirits of the Mojave Sand Gods," explains the press material. Otherwise, it's hard to decipher a unifying premise from the glimpses we're shown of naked men
brandishing weird masks in the California desert.
These sex loops may not be as interesting as they're meant to be, but they're watchable. The first takes place in a standard collegiate bedroom where Trent Austin, who looks like
a native of Rivendell, the elvish enclave in Lord of the
Rings, is paired with Brad Rock, a solid, square-built jock. The most memorable element in the middle two one-on-one segments, both
set in sandy surroundings beneath a Joshua tree, is Jack London's fat uncut cock. Finally, there's a three-way in a loft. The funky participants--Nick Piston, Danny Lopez, and Steve
Cannon--are adorned with multiple piercings and tattoos. They suck and fuck energetically. Steve Cannon, who was diabolically beautiful in Titan Media's
Fallen Angel, seems dissipated here, and
engulfed by smudgy tattoos. The multiple rings he now wears in his scrotum have decidedly arcane appeal.
