Dawn has read that 13 men and boys have sought emergency medical treatment in Queensland, Australia, hospitals for penis-in-zipper injuries in the last three years. Richard
Hockey, analyst at the Queensland Injury Surveillance Unit, said he was surprised to find trapped genitals were the leading cause of clothing-related injury when he analysed department
statistics in 1998 to 2001.
It could be a sub-tropical issue, he said. "In the hotter weather, anecdotally, people are going without underpants. Perhaps it's time to return to button flies."
