This breath of fresh air from Bel Ami justifies its title with little discernible effort. A+ is the tenth and apparently last installment-- and earned final grade-- in George Duroy's Personal Trainers cycle, in which experienced models teach novices how to have sex on camera. The basic gimmick has been a staple of low-end gay porn for years, usually with tawdry and boring results. (An exception is Terrance Hawke's New Meat videos.) What's different here is the level of taste and professional skill the Bel Ami team brings to the occasion. There's also the quality of the models, selected not just for looks, but for that special vitality found at the point where innocence connects with carnal abandon.

Sexual mentors Jean Bonnet and Dano Sulik, veterans of previous Personal Trainers videos, are among Duroy's most serendipitous discoveries. Sulik, seen here clowning in a silly green wig, dates back to Bel Ami's beginnings in the early '90s. Bonnet has turned up in portions of the Frisky Summer series, in CoverBoys, and elsewhere. Here Bonnet takes center stage in a four-scene showcase for his own talents as well as those of seven newcomers. A radiant model whose perfect looks are sometimes interrupted by an outsized, toothy grin-- "You look like a cartoon character," notes director Marty Stevens-- Bonnet is a quicksilver mix of unabashed sensuality and slutty mischief. In A+, he goes one-on-one with "Jimmy Larson," a young Slovakian blond fresh from military service, and "Todd Rosset," a university student whose instincts belie his need for training. Bonnet also helps Sulik coach rising stars Bolek Polanski and Casper Watts, and joins Brandon Manilow in drilling three young schoolmates. The format may be simple, but the result will leave some viewers in a state of sexual meltdown.
