Blood tests now coming into use can provide some information about which anti-HIV drugs are unlikely to work for a particular patient, because their virus has become resistant to those drugs. Updated
HIV-treatment guidelines now, for the first time, recommend such resistance testing in some cases.
A Web site for physicians provides brief articles on resistance testing, ask-the-experts questions and answers, tables showing which mutations affect which drugs, a glossary, and other background
information; it is available at www.hivresistance.com.
