Often it is easy to think Americans uniquely stupid, but then comes news from other English-speaking lands.... Earlier this month, Scotland joined other UK countries in creating penalties for "grooming," that is, contacting under-age teens with the intent of "abusing" them.
Predictably, the dreaded Internet and "paedophile" played their parts in the political dog-and-pony show that accompanied this malodorous legislation. Like previous Inquisitions, "anti-grooming" legislation is aimed at controlling thought, not action, and can be selectively enforced against
whatever monsters need be created. And as in previous such crusades, homos are likely to top the list.
In some ways, the Brits seem even worse; even their "progressive" press is remarkably un-skeptical about garden variety teen sex being branded horrific abuse.
