A new report from Tufts University suggests that exercise training may help treat AIDS-related lipodystrophy. Lipodystrophy, which is associated with
protease inhibitor treatment for HIV, causes reallocation of the body's fat. The condition may increase the patient's risk of hypertension, diabetes, and coronary artery
disease. The researchers report, however, that progressive resistance training with an aerobic component resulted in a mean decline of 1.5 kg in the total body fat of the
subjects, mostly in the trunk.
