A new study reported at the 13th International AIDS Conference shows that protease inhibitors could lead
to sexual dysfunction in some HIV-infected individuals.
The survey of over 1,000 European adults with HIV found that 48 percent of the men and women
taking protease inhibitors reported a drop in sexual interest, versus 32 percent for patients taking other
medications, while 44 percent of the male protease inhibitor users reported a reduction in sexual potency, compared to
27 percent of males taking other drugs.
