SP-303: New Treatment for AIDS-Associated Diarrhea

View our poll archive
A study of 51 HIV-positive subjects with a history of a CD4 count below 200 or an AIDS- defining illness concluded that the experimental drug SP-303 is safe and well-tolerated and that SP-303 may be effective in reducing stool weight and frequency in AIDS-associated diarrhea.

A three-fold greater reduction in stool weight was observed after four days in SP-303 treated patients as compared to patients receiving placebo.
