A 46-year-old South African expatriate living in New Jersey says he was doing "research" when he groped a vice cop in Asbury Park. He claims he knew the man he "was touching" was a vice cop and says he wanted to get arrested so that he would be able to write about it for a
work in progress, a play, according to the Asbury Park
Press.
Normally men who grope other men do so to find out whether they have hot nuts-- that is, if they want sex and are able to get a hard on. But the playwright claims he had no such sordid goal in mind.
How this plays in court remains to be seen.
The Press did not say where the playwright touched the vice cop-- that is, where in Asbury Park, whether it was a park, a piss house, or what. There is no doubt where on the cop's body he put his hand; the
Press says he is charged with "groping" the cop, also that he is
charged with "offensive touching."
The use of "offensive" illustrates how perverse the law, the cops, and the media can get. A healthy and intelligent man would not find such a caress "offensive," but would take advantage of the opportunity it offers.
