Dawn Ivory
Dawn admits to not really caring that ABC cancelled "Ellen" and, further, to thinking that protests about the cancelation seemed overly-sensitive and all-too-ready to claim homophobia when the market
may have simply been responding to stale writing.
But a quote from ABC president Robert Iger caught Dawn's eye. Explaining why the network flushed the sitcom, Iger said it was because "the character was gay every single week."
Now, Dawn is all for more fluid concepts of sexuality, and would like to think that Iger will be insisting that characters heretofore "straight every single week" will be urged to take a walk on the wild side.
(The male cast members of "Friends" come quickly to mind....) But, sadly, Iger was undoubtedly confirming exactly what Ellen was saying: ABC simply can't handle girls who think eating pussy is hot.
