The Boston Globe, never to be outdone by its rival the Boston Herald's anti-gay animus, recently ran a front page puff piece about Provincetown's supposed new appeal to the sexually uptight. Authoress Tania DeLuzuriaga penned, "Waiting for a whale-watch boat with his wife and five-year-old daughter one recent morning, Brian Grunert of Buffalo marveled at this seaside community's beautiful beaches, laid-back atmosphere -- and child-friendliness. It was a far cry, Grunert said, from the wild Provincetown he had visited in the 1970s."

> There you have it, a perfect encapsulation of the hypocritical self-congratulatory smarminess that infects so many "liberal" institutions and individuals: Tania, the Globe, and others no doubt pat themselves on the back for "tolerating" homosexuals, all the while trumpeting the insidious message that gay men are inherently a threat to children. Would Tania ever -- ever -- think of writing about Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard, "long-popular with African-Americans as a vacation destination, this Vineyard community is seen as increasingly white-woman friendly...."?
