A 26-year-old Tampa, Florida, woman is suing a company whose film
developing technician allegedly showed a nude photograph of her at a
party.
The photograph is one of almost 300 photographs of nude women
which the former employee of the film lab allegedly acquired in his
work, placed in an album, and circulated.
The story, as told in Associated Press dispatches in the Miami
Herald, suggests that a mammoth amount of home-made nude
photographs exist in America; the 300 pussy prints in the Tampa album
are merely some
of the prints made by one lab during one two-year period.
The story also suggests that a lawyer stands to clean up on
the dirty deed. No less than 100 women have contacted him to enquire
if their nude likenesses are among those shown m around and about and
if so, what
can be done juridically about it.
"The crux of it," says an assistant state attorney,
"is that it's a civil matter." The other main kind of
lawsuit-- criminal-- could be filed "only if the photos
themselves were proven obscene. Simply a photo of a woman's
nude body probably wouldn't be."
A nude photograph of a woman may not be obscene but the
circumstances under which the 26-year-old complainant's snapshot was
taken seem obscene. (Her boyfriend "snapped" her, as it
were, as she stepped out
of a shower.) It is no big deal when two men are naked together; ever
since boyhood they have been surrounded by thousands of naked pricks
in locker rooms, barracks, dormitories, and public toilets. Moreover,
those who
want to play with another's dick, balls, asshole, and the erogenous
zone betwixt the balls and butt hole know exactly how to do it
effectively from many hours and even years of playing with their own.
But when a woman and a
man are naked together, it is a jarringly obscene occasion, starting
even before they are naked, with the dramatic difference in their
lingerie and ending with the startling differences in their bodies.
Thus homosexuality is just a natural and inevitable extension
of the routine male nudity men and boys live with, while
heterosexuality is a shocking display of two bodies that are foreign
to each other-- a display that I
would think would alienate both women and men.
