The auto repair shop is one of those testosterone-charged male spaces that readily lends itself to sexual fantasy, but whose overuse in porn can be a drag. Jacked Up, however, proves there's just as much life in the old garage as there was in the '70s, when Rip Colt began exploiting the milieu. (Or in the '60s, when Kenneth Anger made homoerotic use of car culture.) The cavernous set, apparently created in a play space at Castlebar, the San Francisco S/M emporium, recalls the opening passages of Titan Media's most recent Fallen Angel video; this production shares and improves upon the gritty, toolbox ambiance of Fallen Angel III.

Brian Mills's camerawork isn't as compelling as Bruce Cam's contributions to Titan's Fallen Angel or Heat, but it's still first-rate. The staging sometimes ignites like hellfire. Customer Eddie Moreno and long-haired grease monkey Joe Hicks get a bit too self-consciously loud and snarly in the opening segment, during which Hicks (Hix on the box, Hicks on the screen-- which is it?) binds Moreno's genitals with twine and hangs a wrench from them, then clamps his nipples with two pairs of pliers. But the scene is an effective warm-up for the principal sequences: two intercut four-man sexual decathlons.

In an office area, the insatiable Hicks goes on to top fellow mechanic Steve Carlisle; they're joined by boss Jack Simmons and later by Moreno. Elsewhere, an arrogant yuppie with a cell phone (Bruce Jennings)-- known to the staff as "that asshole with the Le Mans"-- gets his comeuppance at the hands of Latino daddy Rolio Vizarro, who calls him "fucking white trash," shackles him to the bumper of a car, yanks his khaki pants below his knees, lashes him with a belt, pisses all over him, lubes him up with a grease gun, fucks him, shoves a screwdriver handle up his ass, and makes him shout, "I'm a fucking cock whore!" Mitch Ryder, as a package delivery man, and Ross Taylor, a trick he met in the men's room, stop by to help out. The cast is without exception superb.
