What drove Timothy McVeigh to blow up that federal building in Oklahoma City? To judge from letters he wrote his sister Jennifer, Timothy was deeply
disillusioned with a government he increasingly viewed as a sinister Big Brother. Jennifer claims the "breaking point" for her brother came when he and nine other soldiers
at Fort Bragg were taken to a private intelligence briefing and told that they may be required to participate in government-sanctioned assassinations and
government-sponsored drug trafficking. That's when McVeigh, a former gung-ho patriot, quit the Army and began to reassess his relationship with the government.
Blowing up dozens of innocent people is inarguably bad, but it strikes Dawn as odd that during the months of media frenzy we never heard McVeigh's
sound reasons for hating the federal government.
