How to order
Hiking through the California desert, a man finds a reel of 16-millimeter film in an abandoned house. He brings the film home, digs out an old projector, and discovers six well-crafted sex loops shot in and around the shack where the film was discovered.
Desert Sol, the first release from Latin Pacific Productions, has been lit and processed to capture the grainy, flickering quality of 16-millimeter films projected in gay adult theaters 25 years ago. The result is sometimes distracting, but brings back the edgy, underground feel of vintage, pre-video gay porn.
Ace editor Fay Dubois, one of the key female artists in gay adult video, performs well in what seems to be her solo directorial debut. (She's previously co-directed features for the now-defunct L.A. Brown.) The predominantly Latino 11-man cast includes various ages and
types. Standouts include the reliable Danny Lopez, caramel-toned newcomer Caesar Cruz, and Brandon Weber, who's like a tousled, whory Phillips Exeter student.
A low point occurs when Tino Lopez has a make-believe orgasm; the high points peak when impressive (though probably straight) newcomer Gil Cortez rams a dildo up dark, delectable Rio's ass and simultaneously slams his dick into Danny Lopez.
