The energy fired up by Act Up, so many generations ago in gay life, has faded,
but its recollection can inspire nostalgia. "We are a group of people eager to see the develo pment of a
strong, visible, politicized gay men's health movement in the US," says a call-to-action now making the rounds.
In Boulder, Colorado, July 29 to August 1, organizers to plan to rub sticks together to see what their sparks
can ignite. The conference aims to reinvigorate a gay men's health movement, and bridge the divide that
separates gay men who came out pre-AIDS from the younger, post-AIDS generation. Other topics: the effects of cyberspace
on gay life and health, rural gay men's needs, race and ethnicity and the provision of medical care, and the
issues raised by circuit parties. The conference is limited to 250 people, so those interested will quickly call Mark Beyer at 303-444-6121,
or browse over to the registration form at www.bcap.org.
