Looking for sex "crime" archive

An article in the March 2002 issue of The Nation referred to an article Sex and Empire in the March 2002 issue of The Guide. I was unable to locate it through your web site. Can you tell me how to do this, or send me a copy?

I am seeking this on behalf of my partner who is currently in a California state prison on a sex crime charge. He specifically asked for this article. I am beginning to gather information on the ridiculous sentences handed down for sex crimes. If you have published other articles on this matter, would you kindly refer me to them....

Shit article disgusts

Your response to C.B. of Urbana, Illinois [letters, April 2002] regarding his disgust over your article about coprophilia [Exploring Coprophilia: A Lot to Digest] exhibits a degree of arrogance and stupidity on the part of The Guide's editorial staff.

By taking the condescending position of forgiving C.B. for being "only 18" and then saying "...trust us: guys' (and gals') sexual interests, desires, and obsessions are far weirder, varied, and inexplicable than you can imagine­ one of the wonders of sex," you imply that coprophilia is just another "wonderfully diverse" aspect of gay sex.

That C.B. is seemingly astonished and disgusted by this activity should be viewed as a "normal" reaction. That your magazine chooses to even give space to such practices should be viewed by the vast majority of us who support your magazine as disgusting. I did not read the on-line story, but I did see this subject discussed by The Guide in a previous issue. My visceral response at the time was one of disgust, and I did not read the article.

Trust me­ the vast majority of gay men and women, heterosexuals, and all those in between do not find this subject interesting, "wonderfully diverse", or a "wonder of sex." It is just plain disgusting. Some things people do behind closed doors transcend the realm of being "sexual" and are better left behind closed doors or in the closet! For your publication to elevate the subject to one of "interest" is just stupid. Cut the crap!

In many places and times, the "normal" reaction to men who like to suck cock has been disgust... and worse. Our articles are not meant to validate opinions held by "the majority," but rather to challenge them. Perhaps you'd do well yourself to read articles before condemning them.
